Blood is the most vital fluid in the human body, comprising a significant number of red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. Generally, blood grouping is categorized into two systems: the ABO system and the Rhesus system.
In the ABO system, blood is classified into four distinct types:
1. A Group
2. B Group
3. AB Group
4. O Group
The Rhesus system classifies blood into two types: Rh positive and Rh negative. When these two systems are combined, they define eight blood group types, which are as follows:
1. A+ Group
2. A- Group
3. B+ Group
4. B- Group
5. AB+ Group
6. AB- Group
7. O+ Group
8. O- Group
Note:(+) defines positive and (-) defines negative
Recent studies have identified a new blood group known as the Bombay blood group, characterized by the absence of the H antigen in red blood cells.
